It’s super dark at nighttime. I guess that’s a pretty general (aka duh) observation, but I still have that thought in my head anytime I’m in a car or outside after the sun goes down. Like, wow, it’s pretty dang dark.

It could have something to do with my obsession with greyscale, but we’ll save that conversation for another day.

The other night I was coming home from a worship service at a different college with my friend, Kaitlyn. It was late and this school was about an hour away from North Greenville, so it was completely dark by the time we started on our way back.

The road that my university is on gets super dark at nighttime thanks to a lack of streetlights and an abundance of trees. As we neared NGU, I really couldn’t help but notice how many stars were in the sky.

I ADORE stars. They are bright, magical, and literally twinkle (like, how cool is that?)

As I gazed at the stars I just started to pray to God. I thanked Him for giving us these beautiful pieces of creation that light up the sky on a clear night. I thanked Him for being a God of wonder, who knows the exact number of stars that He placed in the sky.

Then, I felt chills go over my body as I just stared in awe. The same God who created the entire galaxy created us in His image.

We only see a glimpse of God’s masterpiece. That goes for everything, not just the stars.

We only see a glimpse of how God is working in our lives. He knows that we can’t comprehend exactly what He is working on for us, so instead He calls us to trust Him.

He gives us stars to encourage us on a dark night when we are hopeless. To me, stars are like a reminder of God’s abundance of grace and how good our God truly is.

I know it’s a huge step to completely let go of our struggle and give it to God, but He commands us to (1 Peter 5:7). He also never fails to prove how worthy He is of every last ounce of our praise.

Why is it so hard for us to trust the same God who created and knows every single star in His galaxy? Not only that, but He also wants a personal relationship with every single one of us!

This same God wants a relationship with you and with me.

I smiled to myself thinking about this. No matter what tomorrow holds, or what this new season of life brings, we serve a mighty God who gave us breath so that we may live to worship Him. He’s listening to us and He’s molding us.

I don’t know about you guys, but I sure can’t wait to see if the sky is clear tonight.

Thank you, God, for creating the stars, and for creating a plan for my life.
